How the scarcity mindset keeps you broke
π₯ Scarcity Mindset - It's real, y'all.
*If you believe that there isn't enough, there won't be. If you believe there will never be enough, there won't be.*
β¨ I'm not trying to be all woo-woo, manifest what you want by thinking about it... I won't tell you that if you pray or write letters or cast spells, the universe or God or whatever you believe in will drop everything you want into your lap.
But there is a HUGE amount of power in mindset and intention.
When your thoughts stem from a place of lack, your ACTIONS actually promote lacking.
To manifest, by definition, is to "display or show (a quality or feeling) by one's acts or appearance; demonstrate.".
Manifest. DEMONSTRATE. These are verbs. It's not about magically thinking your way into wealth or health or better relationships. It's about putting your actions in front of your thoughts. And it works for both scarcity and abundance
===========
So what does a scarcity mindset look like?
* You are so focused on keeping what you have, that you don't seek or recognize new opportunities π
* You develop a false sense of security around what you already have (e.g. a job or relationship) - what you have is better than having nothing, right? π§·οΈ
* You get stuck in a cycle of survival. Working 50+ hour weeks just to kinda-sorta-hopefully pay the bills doesn't leave much time to pursue opportunities that could break the cycle. π
*You feel negative emotions surrounding the things you want, e.g. money or healthy relationships. If asked to describe money as a person, for example, you may express anger or give the person negative attributes. π«
*Decision-making is based on the notion that there isn't anything else coming. You might under-tip, or refrain from investing, even if it's an extremely small amount of money, because it's all you have, and you're nervous about when or if you'll have more. π
*You become highly risk-averse and stringent with your time, money, and energy. π
===========
Ironically - all of these things promote scarcity. Risk aversion = reward aversion. Chronic risk aversion is a massive barrier to success and happiness.
"But I literally cannot pay my bills"... πΈ dude, I get it. TRUST ME, I get it. I've been broke. I've had zero income, living in the middle of nowhere with zero transportation, no internet and "no skills". I've been too young to work, too young to sign a lease or rent a car, and left without resources to provide for myself. I've been homeless. I've been a single mom with no childcare. Whatever makes you feel REAL scarcity, I've probably been there.
I've also been successful. π° I've experienced abundance. I've seized opportunities and experienced serendipity in ways I couldn't possibly attribute to any tangible action.
And I've cycled between the two, way too many times. This is one of those things you could have told me over and over and over, and I'd never get it until I finally got it.
Getting to those places wasn't always by my doing, but staying in them? All. Of. That. Was. Mindset. ALL OF IT.
*There will never be an end to the obstacles we perpetuate.*
===========
And the funny thing is, a lot of the things we need to change in order to break out of a scarcity into abundance feel like they REPEL the things we truly desire.
A few examples -
* Survival traits, such as hoarding. It's a false safety mechanism. It doesn't serve you. Letting go of "stuff" has an incredibly positive effect on our thoughts, our environments, and ultimately our actions. The connection between figurative and literal is SOoOOoo apparent when you free yourself from the things that weigh you down. Anyone who has successfully broken out of the hoarding mentality (*cough*π) can attest to how far-reaching the effects are.
*Protective language - "I can't afford this", or "I don't have time for this"... of course that feels like budgeting - smart move right? Try this instead: "I have other priorities right now". How does that feel? What kind of story does that bring up about how you're choosing to invest your money or your time?
*Jealousy or insecurity. Yes, I'm calling this out. A scarcity mindset can easily become self-fulfilling prophecy where you're perpetually defeated by the "competition". Acknowledging and genuinely applauding the success of others can improve your situation on multiple levels. Put down the Hateradeβ’ and ask them what they're drinking.

Long story short - it's legit. It's so legit that after working with entrepreneurs from all walks of life, and honing in on the ACTIONS that get RESULTS, I've dedicated an entire module of my program to this type of MINDSET shift. That sounds crazy right? Result-oriented actions... from mindset? Yep. Don't forget... manifest is a verb ;)
